Ever-changing Operating Systems
As is known to all, Windows is so far the most widely used and famous system in the world. Microsoft Company never stops updating and launching to the world its Windows systems of different editions, such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Xp, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and the new one, Windows 7. Among these, Windows Xp, Vista, and Windows 7 can be reckoned as the most common and popular ones for recent years.
Windows Xp was issued in 2001, and was originally named Whistler. This is a comparatively mature system and is well known for its friendly interface and stable operating environment. With the lower requirement for computer configuration along with its good compatibility, it is welcome by both companies and individuals. Although Microsoft Company will no longer sell Windows Xp together with new PCs, it will still provide technical support for Xp users till 2014. This can fully explain its great influence to our people.
Windows Vista is an operating system with revolutionary change. It has updated to us with various kinds of new functions, such as new interface – Windows Aero, improved Windows Indexing Service, New Media Editing tools and redesigned subsystems for network, audio, printing and display. Compared to Windows Xp, it has improved a lot on the interface, safety as well as software drives. However, it is not a practical system and is not popular among computer users. Vista has high requirements for the configuration and usually influences the speed of our computers, thus many people choose this but give it up after first trial.
Then Windows 7 emerges. It is completely an update and improvement of Vista system. Windows 7 has simple designs for convenient uses, such as quick window maximizing, jump list and rapid repair of system faults, etc. It reduces the opening time of our computers to no longer than 20 seconds, makes data searching simpler and provides outstanding safety to us.
Generally speaking, the above systems are largely identical with minor differences. Designed by the same company, one is nothing but an update and improvement of another. Therefore, usually we can apply same procedures to solve problems in different systems. Windows clean up is an example. We can usually download the same clean up software to clean and speed up windows 7, Vista as well as Windows Xp.
Now we can hardly catch up with the speed of update due to the advance of the science and technology. When we are using Windows 7 and gradually become accustomed to this, Windows 8 might emerge some day. We should get prepared and meet the challenge at any time!
